Loro Parque (Puerto de la Cruz)
Founded 1972 · Spain
Loro Parque is one of the world's most celebrated animal parks — a subtropical paradise in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, that has welcomed more than 40 million visitors since Wolfgang Kiessling opened it as a parrot sanctuary in December 1972. What began with 150 parrots has grown into a world-leading institution with over 400 species, spectacular marine mammal shows and lush botanical gardens overlooking the Atlantic.
Named Best Zoo in the World by TripAdvisor in 2017 and 2018, Loro Parque combines world-class entertainment with serious conservation through Fundación Loro Parque — supporting projects on five continents with a special focus on parrots and marine mammals.
